Why would I pay for this when the Jsonic tools are free?

You would not, for a one-off conversion — the free tools handle that better and faster. These engagements exist for work a browser tool structurally cannot do: thousands of records, inconsistent schemas across sources, data that cannot legally leave your network, or a contract that needs to hold up in CI over time.

How are engagements priced?

Fixed price, agreed before any work starts, based on a sample of your real data. No hourly billing and no open-ended retainers. If the sample shows the job is smaller than expected, the quote goes down.

What happens to my data?

Sample data is used only to scope and test the migration, and is deleted on delivery. For work that cannot leave your network, the custom tooling engagement delivers a self-hosted tool instead, so no data is transferred at all.
